Having been raised on the Jersey Shore I am naturally attracted to water and its many moods. Since it is one of the subjects I favor, many of my paintings include lakes, rivers and the seashore. Immersing myself with a waterscape is just that, becoming one with the water. If I am painting the sea I can smell the salt air, hear the crash of the surf and the seagulls. The Finger Lakes with it's countless tributaries and waterfalls -I can't help but feel the immensity and refreshment of it all. The mist on the hills, dancing light on the water, droplets of rain--it is all beautiful. I drink in the inspiration, then I paint.
